Training to Become a Professional Hospitality Manager

This diploma program is offered in collaboration with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute”. Widely recognized as the preeminent leader in hospitality certification, the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) certifies hospitality professionals in all facets of the hospitality, hotel and tourism industry. The 12-course program is provided via classroom, computer assisted learning, tutoring and applicable activities (i.e. guest speakers, field trips). The curriculum and training methodology ensure graduates acquire the knowledge, skills and fundamental experience needed work successfully in a range of hospitality/ tourism careers.

This program is eligible for up to $3,000 in scholarships.

Co-op Placement Option Available

Cambria College offers a 48-week* Hospitality Management program for those who wish to take a shorter program and quickly start a career. Alternatively, you can spend an additional 48 weeks* completing a 960-hour co-op placement.

This gives you a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop professional networks while completing your Diploma program. You’ll gain comprehensive knowledge and skills that you can apply in any hospitality setting.

I started the Hospitality Management program with Cambria in September 2019 as an international student. Over the past months I have grown in every respect, from public speaking to gaining confidence in my upcoming co-op work program. Admissions Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements prior to acceptance into the program:

  1. High School Graduate or equivalent OR mature student status (19 years or older prior to starting the program)
  2. Meet one of the following English Language Proficiency requirements:
    • Minimum Grade 10 English (Domestic Students)
    • For English as second language students; Overall IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.
    • Pass the College’s English Assessment test.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this program students will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of management operations in the hospitality industry, including computer applications, financial management, room division management, food and beverage management, marketing, and sales.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and foundation skills to work as a hospitality, service industry professional.
  • Deliver customer service and solutions that anticipate, as well as organizational expectations, standards, and objectives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill for marketing concepts, market research, social networks, sales and revenue management strategies, relationship management skills and product knowledge to promote and sell hospitality services, products, and guest experiences.
  • Explain business and revenue models as well as basic accounting, budgeting, financial and administration skills to support the effective management and operation of a variety of organizations delivering hospitality services and products.
  • Comply with relevant organization and workplace systems, processes, policies, standards, legal obligations and regulations, and apply risk management principles, to support and maintain efficient, safe, secure, accessible and healthy hospitality operations.
  • Use appropriate technologies to enhance the quality and delivery of hospitality services, products, and guest experiences and to measure the effectiveness of hospitality operations.
  • Explain how to keep current with hospitality trends and issues, and interdependent relationships in the broader tourism industry sectors to improve work performance.
  • Use leadership, teamwork, conflict and relationship management skills and tools, as well as knowledge of organizational behaviour, labour relations, employment standards and human rights to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Know how to respond to issues and dilemmas arising in the delivery of hospitality services, products, and guest experiences by using and promoting ethical behaviour and best practices of corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
